how can i do my hair in a war-time style? like x-tina in the candy man video?
im going 2 a fancy dress party next weekend
im going as a war-time girl coz i have never seen anyone dress up like that
how do i style my hair like that?
you know old fashioned curls kinda pinned up round the side?

There are two ways, You can do it. The first is more of a Authentic do, Section out your bangs, and pin curl them..Make your hair all flat, or pull into pin curls, or something like that, and do your bandana like this: http://community.livejournal.com/vintage hair/4553.html . After your pin curls dry, Pin them up so they make little curls just coming out of the bandana.

The second is more of a Pin up/Rockabilly look: Section your bangs off, and pull your hair up into a up do…I, personally, like to pull my hair up into a ponytail, and make barrel curls, doesn’t have to be even or perfect, and pin them together. And if there are any unperfect pieces, I just pin them in place. Then I take my bangs, Backcomb them, and pull them back, Then push it forward to make a poof. Then with my bandana I fold it into a triangle, Then horizontal, so it’s kinda big. Then I take it, and put the back under the bandana, and then tie it ontop of my head. You can have it cover your ears, or just a little bit, or not even covering your ears. Which ever you prefer. Place bobby pins on the sides, or the back, Just to hold it in place. You can also do the bang thing with this, too, If you like.

OR, For more of a Authentic, Not very Rosie like, But you could do Victory Rolls, which was a popular hairstyle around the end of the war. Basically, Pin curl your hair the night before, or the morning of. After your hair is all dry, Take the pin curls out. Who wrote the poem "English is a stupid language"?
There is no egg in the eggplant,
No ham in the hamburger
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England,
French fries were not invented in France.

We sometimes take English for granted, but if we examine its paradoxes we find that:
Quicksand takes you down slowly,
Boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

If writers write, how come fingers don’t fing?
If the plural of tooth is teeth,
Shouldn’t the plural of phone booth be phone beeth?
If the teacher taught,
Why hasn’t the preacher praught?

If a vegetarian eats vegetables,
What the heck does a humanitarian eat?
Why do people recite at a play,
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways?
How can the weather be as hot as hell on one day
And as cold as hell on another?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language where a house can burn up as it burns down,
And in which you fill in a form
By filling it out
And a bell is only heard once it goes!

English was invented by people, not computers,
And it reflects the creativity of the human race
(Which of course isn’t a race at all.)

That is why:
When the stars are out they are visible,
But when the lights are out they are invisible.
And why it is that when I wind up my watch
It starts,
But when I wind up this poem
It ends.
